Google

Agoo's Google app signs people in with Google and connects Google Calendar for busy times, bookings and Google Meet links. What it asks for, how your IT team approves it, and how to remove it.

Early access· P9For IT teams, admins and developers

Agoo is in early access. This page describes the feature as it ships to early-access organisations; screens are illustrative.

Agoo uses one Google app, called Agoo, for two things. Each asks for its own access, only when someone chooses it:

Google Wallet passes for visitors are separate: the visitor adds the pass to their own Google Wallet, and Agoo's Google app isn't involved (Wallet passes).

What the app asks for

Signing in

Google permissionWhat Google showsWhy Agoo needs it
openidAssociate you with your personal infoTo know it's the same Google account each time
emailSee your primary email addressTo match the account to an Agoo account whose email Google confirms
profileSee your personal infoYour name, and for Google Workspace your organisation's domain

Signing in keeps no access to anything in your Google account afterwards: no offline access, no mail, contacts, files or calendar.

Connecting Google Calendar

Google permissionWhat Google showsWhy Agoo needs itRequired?
calendar.calendarlist.readonlySee the list of Google calendars you're subscribed toSo the person chooses which calendars count for busy times and where bookings goYes
calendar.freebusyView your availability in your calendarsTo keep busy times off their booking pages. Start and end times onlyYes
calendar.eventsView and edit events on all your calendarsTo add their confirmed bookings, with Google Meet links, and move or remove themNo

Agoo also asks to keep access while the person is away (offline access), so it can check the calendar and update events when they aren't signed in. Without calendar.events the connection works as Busy times only.

What Agoo keeps: each chosen calendar's name and colour; busy start and end times (never titles, people or descriptions), deleted a day after they end; the IDs of the events Agoo added. It only ever changes events it added, and never invites anyone from the calendar. Tokens are encrypted and never shown to anyone.

Agoo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Agoo does not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models. The privacy notice has the details.

Approve Agoo for your organisation

If your Google Workspace only lets staff use apps your IT team has approved, people see Google say the app is blocked, and in Agoo a calendar card says Needs your IT team (sign-in says your organisation's IT needs to approve Agoo in Google first). A Google Workspace administrator approves it once, for everyone:

Open the Google Admin console

Sign in at admin.google.com as a super administrator, and go to Security → Access and data control → API controls.

Add Agoo

Under App access control, select Manage third-party app access, then Configure new app, and search for Agoo by name.

Trust it

Choose the organisational units it applies to, and set access to Trusted. Save.

People connect again

Each person selects Connect again on their calendar's card in Account → Calendars, or signs in with Google again.

To limit sign-in to your own Google Workspace, an Owner or Admin lists your domains in Console → Settings → Security → Sign in with Google and Microsoft (Your organisation's rules).

Remove Agoo

In Agoo:

  • Sign-in: Your account → Sign-in and security → Sign-in methods → remove Google. You can't remove the way you're signed in with now: sign in another way first.
  • Calendar: Account → Calendars → the Google card → Disconnect, with Remove the events Agoo added (recommended) ticked to remove upcoming events. Agoo asks Google to withdraw its access, and deletes the busy times and list of calendars at once.

In your Google account: open myaccount.google.com/connections, choose Agoo and select Delete all connections you have with Agoo. After that, signing in with Google fails until you allow it again, and a connected calendar's card in Agoo says Reconnect needed: disconnect it there to delete what Agoo kept. Events Agoo already added stay in your calendar until you delete them.

For the whole organisation: in the Google Admin console, set Agoo to Blocked under Manage third-party app access.
